The band also initially included Rick Wakeman, but he left the group in April 1970 to join Strawbs. By signing a licensing deal with Vertigo Records, the band's self-titled debut album was released in November 1970. The release was followed by a tour, but the band's lineup evolved again before the recording of their second album, "Red Sea," released in June 1972.
Shortly after, drummer Mac Poole left Gong and was replaced by Barney James. Warhorse would continue until 1974, but singer Ashley Holt and Barney James would leave to join Rick Wakeman in his band The English Rock Ensemble.
The two albums recorded by Warhorse are beautiful examples of the Progressive Hard Rock of the time. They are both featured in this collection, along with eleven other bonus tracks including demos and live recordings.
