{"product_id":"viron_nwoghm_2024_zyx","title":"NWOGHM","description":"Traces of the true metal project SEDUCTION, initiated by a management team, a real band emerged in 2004: VIRON. Unlike SEDUCTION, VIRON immediately seemed more mature and down-to-earth. Influences from American metal and the NWOBHM were blended with European metal, which was something special for a German band in 2004. After grunge, crossover, and gothic, traditional heavy metal was slowly making a comeback, and VIRON was one of the first to take part in this evolution. The band's first EP, also named NWOGHM (New Wave Of German Heavy Metal), made a splash in the underground, and the band played a few shows without a recording contract, notably at the Headbangers Open Air near Hamburg. This caught the attention of labels, and in 2006, they decided to sign with the Greek company Sonic Age (aka. Cult Metal Classics). The EP was completed with additional songs, recorded in the same studio (Kohlekeller Studio), and became an album. In order to stand out from real metal bands and all their dragons and wizards on colorful covers, they opted for a very simple design and kept the title NWOGHM. The cover of the American metal classic \"Run For Tomorrow\" by Exxplorer, however, remained exclusive to the EP (but now appears on the Golden Core LP). The excellent reviews of the album were followed by appearances at the Sworbrothers Festival, United Metalheads, and with bands such as Sabaton, Custard, and Solemnity. The album's intro, \"Sander,\" is considered cult and remains a talking point today. VIRON moved to Metal Heaven Records in 2007 and released the following album \"Ferrum Gravis\" in 2008, before the band gradually faded into obscurity due to the success of the band ROXXCALIBUR (three members of VIRON), which was active at the same time. Following numerous fan requests, NWOGHM is finally available on vinyl.
