The video, directed by SNASK, features singer Sebastian Murphy, the anti-hero at the center of all Viagra Boys' videos, taking on the role of an evangelical preacher diving deep into the pockets of his congregation. Inspired by current events, the album aims to tear apart the madness and confusion in which the world currently finds itself. Like sin-eaters if sins were to be ingested with a teaspoon, Viagra Boys have absorbed the utterly incomprehensible chaos of our time and distilled it into 12 impeccable tracks that make up Cave World. While Welfare Jazz from 2021 received critical acclaim from outlets such as Pitchfork, NPR, GQ, NME, Stereogum, Fader, and others, Viagra Boys were in the midst of re-recording what would become their follow-up. After completing a full album at the legendary Silence studio in the town of Koppom, the band decided they could go further. \"We let the music stretch for a while and then we re-recorded everything absolutely,\" Murphy explains. Some of the music made it to what would become Cave World, but with the lyrics replaced. In this iterative process, Murphy found himself constantly returning to a deep misconception: the idea that humanity is progressing. After watching a video late one night about a theory suggesting that evolution involved trading certain cognitive abilities for others, Murphy began to ruminate on the fact that the result was mass shootings and scientific denial. \"I just wrote: 'Who is the real monkey?'\" he says. \"People look down on monkeys as primitive life forms, but we are just this horrible, lazy society that kills each other and starts wars, while they can love and feel.
