{"product_id":"various_chansons-de-lutte-et-despoir_2018","title":"Chansons de lutte et d'espoir","description":"Le Front Populaire en chansons\u003cbr\u003e \"We want the worker, the peasant, and the unemployed to find joy in life and a sense of dignity in leisure.\" \u003cbr\u003e Léo Lagrange, during his first radio broadcast, on June 10, 1936\u003cbr\u003e Formally framed for the exercise of power between the two decisive dates of April 26, 1936 (first round of the Legislative elections) and April 8, 1938 (fall of the second Blum government), the Popular Front, in nearly two years, sparked hopes and passion among the popular classes in France and laid the foundations for a new society marked by more social justice, the effects of which are still felt today. \u003cbr\u003e Great moments of political and social history mark the broadly understood period, from the bloody anti-parliamentary day of February 6, 1934, which degenerates into a riot, to the antifascist and spontaneously united gatherings of February 9 and 12, 1934, up to the capitulation of Western democracies to the demands of the German and Italian fascist regimes with the signing of the Munich agreements on September 29, 1938. \u003cbr\u003e Our aim here is not to substitute ourselves for the established historians of this historical sequence (cf. bibliographic notice) nor to comment on their work. We have deliberately chosen to place ourselves from the perspective of the contemporary observer of the events and to attempt to shed light on the atmosphere of that time, in its diversity and complexity, using the entire set of sung sound documents (many of which are unpublished on CD) that illustrated the 1930s, whether they are militant documents with a confidential purpose or major hits of the moment broadcast in a loop on the TSF.
