{"product_id":"trio-lubotsky_boccherini-trios-a-cordes-opus-6_2017","title":"Boccherini : Trios à cordes Opus 6","description":"Luigi Boccherini inaugurates the long series of his works (over 580 compositions!!!) as early as 1760 in Vienna, by writing a series of six trios for two violins and cello, which had the honor of pleasing the great Gluck. These pieces, very ahead of their time, were not published until 1767 in Paris. One might think that the trio for two violins and cello is a remnant, at that time, of the baroque trio sonata (in 1760 several of the most important composers of the baroque era are still alive and active, including Telemann...). However, this is not the case; the modern Boccherini style, with a virtuosic cello completely freed from the role of continuo, appears right away, as it will largely persist throughout the artist's career. Mozart is 4 years old, Haydn (aged 28) has only composed divertimenti for quartet with optional horns... this form of trios remains dear to the Lucchese, as one of his last works (six trios Opus 54, Madrid 1796) is dedicated to it, with several other collections for the same formation arriving at a total of 30 in the meantime. Thus, in 1769, the six trios Opus 6 are born, the year Boccherini arrives in Madrid, where he will spend the rest of his life. Since the trios of 1760, the style has matured, expressiveness and intense lyricism (notably in the slow movements) have deepened, and we see the emergence here and there of those characteristic Hispanisms of the Boccherini idiom. The Lubotsky Trio, founded in 2003 by the gathering of three seasoned performers, brilliantly fills a discographic gap here with a committed, brilliant, and warm vision of four of these little gems.
