From this play, Gérard Gelas' troupe extracted three sounds which they immediately compiled into a single. Miss Madonna is thus the second recording by the Théâtre du Chêne Noir. Both sides (and the three tracks) offer a striking instrumental theater, imbued with a quasi-mystical aura. The actors, all the more convincing on record, were also musicians: alongside Miss Madonna, a former circus star turned idol, we find Daniel Dublet on piano and electric organ, Pierre Surtel and Jean-Louis Canaud on saxophones, and Gilbert Say on trumpet. But there are also the voices of Béatrice Le Thierry, Bénédicte Maulet, Jean Paul Chazalon, Monik Lamy, Nicole Aubiat... who contributed to the mystery of what happened on stage. The sound of this particular theater evokes John Coltrane as much as Ravi Shankar, Pierre Henry, or the Art Ensemble of Chicago.
