(Kavus) had recently bought Paul Kirchner’s compendium, Awaiting The Collapse.” Paul’s character, “Dope Rider” (the skeleton in question), cruises the desert on a bike, dealing out all manner of mischief and cosmic philosophy, highlighting the absurdities of life, death and the American myth. \"As we created this track, one of our most beautiful and extravagant, it seemed to name itself.\"\n\nSerendipity has always played a strong role in The Utopia Strong, thanks to the improvisational approach of Steve Davis, Kavus Torabi and Mike York, and the innate alchemy between them, which allows them to evolve their approach to facilitate the most adventurous of exploratory missions. In this field the formidable history of the band is both transcended and usurped by their combined psychic intensity. Doperider indeed drives the band down hitherto unexplored auditory avenues, and further into more surreal universes, akin to the systemic bliss of Caterina Barbieri, the ruthless soundscapes of Hiro Kone, or the alien soundtracks of Laurie Spiegel. Yet The Utopia Strong’s essential mission remains intact: to deliver a transformative pathway to new marvels. As Steve notes: “We hope we have done justice to the Dope Rider comic character and that he would have loved to embark on a new adventure on his Harley Davison, wind in his ribs, listening to this album.
