The joys presented here are countless: the andante and minuet of the 2nd symphony exhibit extraordinary finesse, distinction, and balance (with a sublime oboe particularly in the minuet). The drama at the beginning of the 4th seems all the more inevitable as it is very ingeniously instilled. The fifth symphony is straightforward, energetic, and fresh. At the beginning of the Unfinished, harshness and sweetness proceed from and nourish each other just as they balance, succeed, and oppose one another, in a sufficiently broad breath that elevates and quintessences the sound. The rhythm adopted at the beginning of the 9th allows the details to express themselves without being too heavy: readability and clarity are once again exemplary.
