{"product_id":"sabine-devieilhe_rameau-les-boreades_2024_war","title":"Rameau: Les Boréades","description":"Started in 2014 as part of the anniversary of the death of Jean-Philippe Rameau, the partnership between the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles and the ensembles of Hungarian conductor Gyorgy Vashegyi, Orfeo Orchestra and Purcell Choir, concludes with the recording of another opera by Rameau, Les Boréades, in which the talented Sabine Devieilhe and Reinoud Van Mechelen notably take part. The composer's final work, created posthumously at the end of the 20th century, Les Boréades represents one of the peaks of French lyric tragedy of the 17th and 18th centuries. Thanks to the work of musicologist Sylvie Bouissou, the CMBV refines the interpretation of the work by questioning the context and practices of the era, to offer a different hearing of the score and propose a new vision of it. Rameau's final lyric tragedy, Les Boréades was intended for the Royal Festivals celebrating the end of the Seven Years' War. The musician's death a few weeks after the start of rehearsals plunged the work into oblivion, where it remained for nearly 250 years until its revival in 1964 and its stage presentation at the Aix Festival in the early 1980s, followed by its entry into the repertoire of the Paris Opera in 2003. And yet, Les Boréades is without a doubt among Rameau's most accomplished pages: the drama is powerful, the writing for orchestra and choir is wildly virtuosic, and the melodic invention is constant. And what a cast assembled here, Sabine Devieilhe, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Thomas Dolié, Tassis Christoyannis,... to serve what can be considered Rameau's musical testament.","brand":"Sabine Devieilhe","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57525722448216,"sku":null,"price":23942752.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/sabine-devieilhe_rameau-les-boreades_2024_war","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
