Recorded across Georgia in various bedrooms, a barn and a motel with a reel-to-reel tape recorder and a rotating cast of brilliant studio musicians in the early 70s, Sunshine Only Sometimes strengthens Folsom's place in the high-flying, long-lost but finally found American folk rock canon. Backed by his mobile recording unit and aided by guitarist and collaborator Hans VanBrackle, he produced the personal compositions that make up Ode to a Rainy Day and Sunshine Only Sometimes in this context. And eventually, this period of experimentation led to the formation of Abacus, his progressive Southern rock band with rural accents. Folsom's early compositions, found on Sunshine Only Sometimes, reflect a darker blend of soft folk and rural tones than on Music and Dreams, revealing his talent for melody and hooks, with a keen sense of introspection making darkness and light equally resonant. Sunshine Only Sometimes once again offers an excellent set of alternative, underground and tonally shifting classic rock.","brand":"Robert Lester Folsom","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55304430551384,"sku":null,"price":23919169.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0184923610314_1c4c1fb1-f735-41b2-9da9-3d0c75850c47.jpg?v=1762357509","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/robert-lester-folsom_sunshine-only-sometimes-archives-vol-2-19721975_2025_pia","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
