This is the gamble taken by Bijan Chemirani, Redi Hasa and Rami Khalifé, three virtuosos brought together to create L’Antidote, an instrumental repertoire of rare finesse that pits the healing power of music against the poisons of the present time. Master of the Iranian zarb and Persian percussion, which he loves to immerse in jazz as well as in the great Mediterranean bath, Bijan Chemirani here combines his rhythmic science with the Albanian cellist Redi Hasa—known for having worked on the revival of traditional music from Southern Italy but also alongside Maria Mazzotta, Ludovico Einaudi, and Robert Plant—and the Lebanese Rami Khalifé, who expertly blurs the lines between classical and electro on his piano keys. While their paths had crossed before, the true encounter took place at the dawn of the pandemic, in a studio in Puglia, near Lecce, when time seemed on the verge of stopping. In the heart of a sea of vineyards, in this magnificent light-drenched place, the three virtuosos met again in autumn 2024 to record L’Antidote, an instrumental repertoire of rare finesse. \"Music is an antidote to reality, which is sometimes tainted with disappointments and broken dreams,\" explains Rami Khalifé. \"Music has a therapeutic effect on the mind and body: it calms us, gives us hope, heals us and helps us see things from a new perspective. Music transcends everything.\" In the athanor, the three alchemists first pour their exceptional gift for improvisation to compose this disc that needs no score. Far from egotrips, listening to one another, in L’Antidote, Bijan Chemirani, Redi Hasa and Rami Khalifé weave together poetic and sensitive landscapes that include both their personal grammar and fragments of a plural Orient, balancing their intimate geographies and a common taste for experimentation. \"L'Antidote is an island where we were able to meet to play music that resembles us and brings us together beyond individualities,\" summarizes Bijan Chemirani, who handles the zarb, daf, calabash, and saz lafta with the humility of sages, while Rami Khalifé deploys his art of contrasts on a grand piano, prepared in places. As for Redi Hasa, he makes his cello sing, alternately minimalist, baroque, or tormented. Experimentation and tradition come together through clever use of electronics, distortion, and various effects applied to the acoustic instrument. \"For me, music is a breath, an air, a meeting. With Rami and Bijan, we found each other, and through the language of music, we learned to know each other and tell our own stories. Beautiful colors were born, rooted in the lands of Bijan, Rami, and","brand":"Redi Hasa","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55344527573336,"sku":null,"price":23992806.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/8030482004427_0b744656-5c13-4ffc-b831-faaa2efe6e26.jpg?v=1765827808","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/redi-hasa_lantidote_2025_pia","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
