{"product_id":"piotr-ilitch-tchaikovski_trios-avec-piano_2019","title":"Trios avec piano","description":"In Russian chamber music, there is a special tradition surrounding the piano trio, with a large number of composers turning to the genre to write 'instrumental requiems.' First and foremost, there is Tchaikovsky and his Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 'in memory of a great artist,' which was followed by composers like Rachmaninov and Shostakovich. In the case of Tchaikovsky's trio, the 'great artist' in question is the pianist Nikolai Rubinstein, and Tchaikovsky chose the trio believing that a solo piano piece would be too light and that orchestral accompaniment would be too ostentatious. The piece is in two movements, a Pezzo elegiaco (elegiac piece), and a set of variations, and it begins with the cello playing a lament that sets the tone for the entirety of the first movement. The theme returns at the end of the second movement in the form of a passionate funeral march. Seventy years later, when the Armenian composer and pianist Arno Babadjanian wrote his Piano Trio in F-sharp minor, he did not give it a subtitle, but there is a grandeur and scope that rivals Tchaikovsky's works - and the second movement also possesses an elegiac character. Babadjanian's trio is his most well-known work, composed in the romantic style of Rachmaninov, but also inspired by Armenian folk music, both harmonically and rhythmically. To perform these works, Russian-born Vadim Gluzman and Yevgeny Sudbin are joined by cellist Johannes Moser.","brand":"Piotr Ilitch Tchaïkovski","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58239977029976,"sku":null,"price":24075261.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/7318599923727.jpg?v=1787438264","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/piotr-ilitch-tchaikovski_trios-avec-piano_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
