Composed a year later in 1786, No. 23 is written in the bright key of A major, while still retaining the theatrical dynamism of Concerto No. 20. A theatricality that is almost dramatic and pre-Romantic for Nicolas Derny, who sees in these concertos the beginnings of two masterpieces by Mozart: the Requiem and The Marriage of Figaro.
