{"product_id":"nerlov_naif-vinyle_2026","title":"Naif - Vinyl","description":"For the past five years now, Nerlov has been carving out a path in French electro-pop, pouring in his melancholy, his disillusionment and quite a bit of cynicism for music that hits like a left hook. It must be said that Nerlov had already been around the block quite a bit before fully revealing himself, playing with others (drums in Sheraf, bass in Sans Carol), lending his voice here and there to Resinsky, Odor, or embarking on a collective adventure that he would lead for around 10 years in cold-wave pop with VedeTT. But it is by taking back his (sur)name that he finds his path and his voice: Nerlov is what they call him, and it is under that name that he will henceforth make music with the success we know him for: two EPs, singles with friends Magenta, Yolande Bashing, Chahu and a first album, Pas Si Grave, which would take him all over France with his partner Simon Garnier on drums. Always in search of renewal, it is with roman that he once again transforms his music, unveiling in 2025 an EP simply titled Piano Voix in which he once again rethinks his music, as a living material that would never stop evolving. It was in fact during a creative residency with roman that Nerlov drew the outlines of his second album. Sound sketches that he brought to his creative partner Atom, present with him since the project’s beginnings, to create the 11 tracks that make up this second album, which will once again be released on Wiser Records and bears the sweet name Naïf. Recorded at Love Island studio in Angers then mixed at Arcades Studios, Naïf carries within it Nerlov’s clear intention to offer a more organic, raw and human sound. The electronic side is still present, but its “bigger than life” energy is a little softened, as if there were no longer any need to overdo it to do it well. Thus, the eleven tracks carry a strong melancholic imprint but never a resigned one, helped in this by Simon’s drums recorded live, but also by bass sounds that are increasingly assertive and powerful. Another evolution and a major fantasy fulfilled by Nerlov: the addition of wind instruments to his music. Accompanied by Elisabeth Hérault on trombone, flute and trumpet and Érik Sevret on saxophone, Nerlov draws influences from two foundational Radiohead albums (KID A and Amnesiac) to offer himself a pop epic that at times escapes into punk, free-jazz and electronics. Naïf, like music that rediscovers its purity and its desire to be as playful as it is effective. It is impossible not to melt in front of Merci and Si Tu Meurs, tracks whose emotion pierces right through us, or not to shed a tear listening to Tout à l’heure. Of course, the energy is still there and tracks like Plein de Sang or Colleur de Stickers raise the BPMs while Oui Mais Non is tinged with dub colors and Ensemble will get even the most reluctant dancing. Naïf is also a confrontation with oneself, the desire to evolve and become better (Et si ça passe, Naïf) but also to tell others and their vision of the world that he cannot stand it (Plein de Sang, Oui Mais Non). In Et si ça passe, Nerlov tells us “it’s never too late to correct course, aim a little higher.” With Naïf, he applies this maxim to himself and offers us a second album of the highest order in which he grows his music both in substance and in form, for a powerful and human result that will do good to all those who listen to it. For the great quality of Naïf, and of Nerlov, is this: speaking about himself to move others more deeply. And for that, we only have to say Merci.","brand":"Nerlov","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58815947571544,"sku":null,"price":23224529.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3667007223008.jpg?v=1792189808","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/nerlov_naif-vinyle_2026","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
