In May 2025, he revisited the masterful arrangement of Mozart's \"Gran Partita\" K. 361, composed around 1800 by the Munich-born Franz Gleißner. Contemporary interpretations and a modern recording were desired and awaited. Goebel performed the works on this CD with the Munich Radio Orchestra in May 2025, during his residency and tour of the palaces of Amberg, Ansbach, Dachau, and Oettingen, after having recorded them for Bavarian Radio's Studio 1.... The \"Gran Partita\" K. 361, one of his most magnificent works, was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for the former Mannheim orchestra, which was transferred to Munich following the Elector's forced departure. This work, unusually written for twelve wind instruments and double bass, is rarely performed. Upon its publication in 1800, it was issued in an arrangement for an orchestra of traditional size, masterfully executed by the Munich composer Franz Gleißner on behalf of the publisher. Reinhard Goebel has repeatedly championed this powerful arrangement, published under the title \"Sinfonia concertante,\" and he performed it once again at the head of the Munich Radio Orchestra. He writes: \"How dull and empty the world would be without arrangements! One cannot oppose arrangements; on the contrary, the arguments in their favor are numerous and complex.\"The famous Mannheim orchestra was formed and perfected with near-military discipline by the composer and conductor Christian Cannabich. The young Mozart was fascinated by both the first violinist and the ensemble. \"One likes to imagine,\" writes Goebel, \"that Mozart might have played the 'Sinfonia concertante' with Cannabich, or even against him.\" This concert work for two violins and orchestra \"constitutes, from the standpoint of both violin virtuosity and composition, a culmination that the established forces of the Mannheim school could not surpass, and certainly not develop further.\"","brand":"Münchner Rundfunkorchester","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57489936351576,"sku":null,"price":23872844.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/munchner-rundfunkorchester_mozart-gran-partita-orchestral-version_2026_disco-outhere-distribution-france","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
