{"product_id":"movietone_movietone_2024_dif","title":"Movietone","description":"World Of Echo is proud to announce the much-anticipated reissue of Bristol group Movietone’s eponymous debut album. Originally released in 1995 on Planet Records and reissued on CD in 2003 by The Pastels’ Geographic Music imprint, this is the first time *Movietone* has been reissued on vinyl. This is an augmented double-LP edition, which includes the extra tracks from the 2003 CD (their first two singles and an unreleased demo of ‘Chance Is Her Opera’), and adds three more unearthed gems: demos of ‘Alkaline Eye’ and ‘She Smiled Mandarine Like’, and an early take of ‘Late July’, recorded in a garden by Dave Pearce (Flying Saucer Attack) in 1993.Like so many other groups, Movietone’s early years were spent experimenting and finding ways to ‘make do’ — a DIY sensibility that inspired the group throughout their decade-long existence.Listening back to *Movietone*, you can hear this democracy in action through the rawness of the music, which is balanced by the poetry of the lyrics and Wright’s melodies. Imbued with half-captured memories and entangled abstractions, there’s an elliptical, ruminative quality to much of the writing that shows the deep influence of the Beat Generation, as well as a twilight ambience captured in the songs of the Velvets’ third album, ‘Galaxie 500’, early ‘Tindersticks, Codeine’.It’s an absolute pleasure to listen to *Movietone* again — still inspired, still alluring, still magical, still mysterious.","brand":"Movietone","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55307246338392,"sku":null,"price":23583374.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5024545982114_c01c517e-0248-409c-9738-9f5b91bf72f2.jpg?v=1760308964","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/movietone_movietone_2024_dif","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
