{"product_id":"mossai-mossai_faces-vinyl_2023_lad","title":"FACES (vinyl)","description":"Making noise often involves reproducing a number of stereotypes, overly testosterone-fueled and not always rich in emotion. Renewing its forms and deconstructing its prerequisites are all essential in an era when rock is undergoing a significant transformation. After a first EP in 2019, which was strongly rooted in a psychedelic aesthetic, Jean Loup, Marie, Tanguy, and Philémon, the four members of Mossaï Mossaï, took the time to create 'Faces'. They allowed their musical boundaries to expand, particularly on stage where the band quickly made a name for itself with its performances. Then, they recorded in Pierre Lambla's troglodyte studio in Thoré-la-Rochette, alongside producer Baptiste Mésange (Jim Ballon, Rank-O, Electric Vocuhila...). There, in this clay space with its unique acoustics, Mossaï Mossaï experimented, dirtying acoustic sources, delving into the material and distorting it to bring forth genuine hallucinatory epiphanies. For this is a central point of this album: everything here tends to, invites us to hallucination. Whether through the repetition of tribal rhythms, as in the introductory \"Cerebral,\" or through the echoes and saturation of the guitars, disturbing perspectives and listening spaces. One might think of industrial music like Throbbing Gristle, or the noise of Sonic Youth or Swans, as models. Like the latter, Mossaï Mossaï twists formats and sweeps away stylistic boundaries at a time when everything rather encourages caution and adherence to standards. The track \"L'Elan\" even verges on the most incandescent experimentation with its metallic percussion noises and acidic resonances through which Marie's voice circulates. A recited, bewitching voice, undoubtedly the most original element of the album, declaiming sensual, grating odes throughout the tracks, reminiscent of Brigitte Fontaine (like the poetic \"Esquisses\"). The album continues until the chaotic \"Charges,\" concluding a Dantesque journey of thirty-five labyrinthine, Dionysian, salutary minutes. Like The Psychotic Monks, Slift, or their neighbors from the Loire, Les Stuffed Foxes, leaders of a burgeoning French rock scene, Mossaï Mossaï plunge into the unknown to find newness, drawing on the experiences of their elders to better explore new spaces to conquer and celebrate. So, in turn, let's celebrate this 'Faces,' and appreciate that a rock album can captivate us so much in 2023.","brand":"Mossaï Mossaï","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310249689432,"sku":null,"price":23968661.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3521381577839_6de28433-3e71-410e-affd-d1798d856064.jpg?v=1760318437","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/mossai-mossai_faces-vinyl_2023_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
