This new reissue includes the complete original album along with three additional rare tracks from Moon Duo's wild early days. The band recorded this album in a rehearsal space in San Francisco in late 2009. It was a kind of classic rehearsal room, shared by a large number of musicians for months and even years. A windowless room lit by string lights, with walls covered in traces of posters and flyers. There was an old dirty carpet, messy gear more or less old or abandoned, and the air seemed suspended in a permanent haze of smoke residue and stale beer. Moon Duo recorded on a four-track tape recorder over a few nights: they would simply start with the rhythms, hit record, and let loose! They had a vague sense of fusion, or fermentation, like a glimpse of something whose contours were not yet visible, but none of them knew at the time that this record would mark the beginning of their life as a touring band and would allow them to meet so many friends, loved ones, and collaborators. Ten years is both a lifetime and a blink of an eye, measurable yet impossible to quantify.
