When The Menahan Street Band was formed in 2007, each member already had solid experience. As musicians and founders of various projects at Daptone Records, they discovered a shared love for hip-hop and rock’n’roll, as well as other eccentric sub-genres that pushed them away from soul and funk music. Their goal is to create music with a broader spectrum, encompassing their eclectic influences and tastes, showcasing their versatility. This culminated in the release of their first album, Make the Road by Walking, in 2008. In 2021, the band finally returned with The Exciting Sounds of Menahan Street Band. A third album that reveals new dimensions, in tone and timbre, as well as in sound and visual atmospheres.
