{"product_id":"matmatah_lembardee_2026_lba","title":"L'Embardée","description":"After months of work exclusively focused on their own repertoire, Matmatah is slowly recovering from their 30th anniversary by reconnecting with their first love: reinterpreting other people's songs! Because Matmatah comes from there, from the sweaty atmosphere of bars and clubs. They devoured covers back in the day. Oh yes they did. So why not gather a few of them on a record? A rite of passage, right? Except that... Recording a covers album can be done in many ways. The band could have taken the easy route and covered the songs dear to their early days. That would be underestimating the lads. They needed to find a real concept to justify such a project. They found two: tackling aesthetics diametrically opposed to their own, to better make them their own. Expanding their linguistic palette to experiment with other sounds. The result is a teeming, joyful, committed UFO of 20 songs written between the 18th and 21st centuries, performed in no fewer than 10 European languages. A beautiful tribute to the continent's diversity. To spice up this project, they invited the whirlwind Fanny Gillard on vocals for Eisbär and Putain Putain, the powerful voice of Morgane Mercier on the strange Alison Gross, mentor Patrick Marie for a space kan Ha Diskan, and the immense Kevin Camus on uilleann pipes and whistle on The Winner Takes it All. Matmatah swerves, travels across Europe and time, has fun, and cheekily shakes up songs they never imagined they would play.
