These are songs of farmers, fishermen, sailors, or festival songs from Fukushima. In 11 years of career in Japan, Maia has played in numerous projects, multiplied tours and concerts throughout the archipelago, released albums, produced \"Kusamakura,\" a compilation of the new Japanese scene, and collaborated with artists such as Arto Lindsay, Kip Hanrahan, Cyro Baptista, Yasuaki Shimizu, Bugge Wesseltoft... Now, she is settled in her second country, France, and performs with her new electric band combining percussion, synths, dance, and VJs. With her vast stage experience, her instinct, her madness, and her borderless musicality, Maia takes us between melancholy and trance, world and electronic music, to the heart of her roots with a singing that grabs you by the gut! After the shock of the earthquake in Japan in 2011, Maia dives into the heart of her roots to discover traditional songs. These songs could correspond to the \"blues\" or \"soul music\" of Japan. They were born in festivals, in rice paddies, on the waves of the Pacific Ocean... and were transmitted orally for hundreds of years, changing form. Maia thought she could transmit them by inscribing them in the contemporary current. Hence the title \"Kodama,\" which means \"echoes.\" \"Songs and rhythms came to me after traveling through forests and mountains across time. It is up to me to launch them back into the air, hoping that after hitting some concrete walls, they will echo...\" Maia Passing through the small southern islands (where they have particular scales and very high-level vocal techniques) to the large northern island where we discover the songs of the Ainu (the aborigines of Hokkaido Island), there is a great variety of songs in the archipelago, not to mention dialects, dances, instruments... Many are forgotten or unknown songs even among the Japanese. Touched by the richness and energy, Maia tries to revive these notes with complete sincerity and her musicality nourished by world music but also by electronic music. Accompanied by her producer, Martin Meissonnier, and Matthias Weber, her sound engineer, they experimented with multiple sonic directions for 3 years to find a unique musical universe.
