I attached dry guitar strings to more electric ones, tied rhythms of ancestral percussion to more digital beats, mixing the old with the new. I drew warmth from Caribbean bass, gave movement to supple hips, concocted French dancehall. I composed riffs, those riffs from my first anger, the eighties of my twenties, I refined the essence of when I was more mature, added syncopations from dance machines. Yes, I composed the album of everything I have loved: a concentrate of what I have become, something of white rock spiced with offbeats, a dream of the longed-for mix. Everywhere major chords, everywhere this fragrance that is missing on discouraged days. My album laughs like a desire to believe that everything can start again. It is the album of memory and that of hope, of the state in which I am with its touch of melancholy.
