{"product_id":"lucia-de-carvalho_pwanga_2022_mdl","title":"Pwanga","description":"Lúcia de Carvalho is an alchemist, a seeker of meaning and an awakener of essence. Her voice transmits healing and transformative vibrations, while her drum makes the voice of her ancestors heard, inviting us to reconnect with our true selves. Born in Luanda, she left the Angolan capital with her mother and two of her four sisters for Portugal. Then, at the age of twelve, she and her two sisters were welcomed by a French family in Meistratzheim, a small Alsatian village. Her African and Portuguese roots resurfaced unexpectedly when Brazilian music came to her village: it was the group Som Brasil, with whom, for ten years, she made her musical debut, from backing vocalist to lead singer, including dancing and drumming. In 2008, she decided to embark on a solo career, writing her own songs. After a first EP in 2011, she met Edouard Heilbronn, a young Alsatian bassist who had spent almost three years on the other side of the world. And what was meant to happen, happened. They share their lives and music, work on compositions together, and grace stages, offering the audience all of Lúcia's radiant and positive energy. After a long journey, as musical as it was initiatory, through Brazil and Angola, Kuzola (\"Love\" in Kimbundu) was born, the name of an album (2016) but also of a sensitive and moving documentary, tracing Lúcia's quest for her roots, providing her with answers to questions about her identity. After the quest for meaning, she is now on a quest for essence. This opens up new avenues, always in symbiosis with Edouard Heilbronn, in this new album recorded and mixed at Ferber Studios (Paris) by Jean Lamoot (Salif Keita, Lo'Jo, Alain Bashung). Africa and Brazil are certainly still there, like the heart of the one who lives and composes with passion, finding lyrics, melodies, and rhythms in the same burst of energy. A raw diamond that her companion polishes, enriching it with harmonies and soundscapes that make the album's tracks like travel films. Other notable contributions to this luminous repertoire include the illustrious Brazilian singer Chico César, the powerful and warm voice of singer Anna Tréa, and two veterans of Angolan music: percussionist Galiano Neto and producer-guitarist Betinho Feijo, known for their long-standing work alongside the great Bonga Kwenda. For his part, the virtuoso Zé Luis Nascimento (Mayra Andrade, Ayo, Cesaria Evora) managed to sublimate the essence of each track with his original and varied vocabulary between Brazilian, Oriental, and Western percussions. Pwanga (Light) is the title of this new album by Lúcia de Carvalho, which combines gentleness with power, meaning and essence, light and the deep roots of a tree born in Africa, whose branches embrace the world, and bloom in songs. Her name, from the beginning, announced her vocation. Lúcia means light, de Carvalho (oak, in Portuguese): the strength of the tree. This sums up her poetic and human quest: to root the light.","brand":"Lúcia de Carvalho","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55311891169624,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700604739203.jpg?v=1760405635","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/lucia-de-carvalho_pwanga_2022_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
