{"product_id":"los-elementos_vendado-es-amor-no-es-ciego_2020_disco-virgin-music-group","title":"Vendado es amor, no es ciego","description":"Glossa is pleased to present the very first recording of a masterpiece by one of the major figures of European Baroque, José de Nebra: the zarzuela Vendado es Amor, no es ciego, which was one of the great successes in Madrid during the summer of 1744. Alberto Miguélez Rouco conducts an inspired vocal sextet, surrounded by Los Elementos, in a production prepared, performed, and sponsored by the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Avoiding the moralizing themes of the dramma per musica, zarzuelas focused on love stories, rivalries, and altercations between mythological characters, with commentary provided by comic and often risqué subordinates! In this work from Nebra's maturity, the plots are skillfully woven by one of the leading Spanish playwrights of the early 18th century, José de Canizares, thus giving the composer the opportunity to intertwine a colorful orchestral music (including a fandango) with a lively and virtuosic series of solo or ensemble arias and choruses. This Baroque entertainment is particularly remarkable thanks to the involvement of Alicia Amo in the central role of the nymph Eumene, abused by the goddesses Diana (Eva Maria Soler Boix) and Venus (Natalie Pérez) as well as by her rather dark love for the shepherd Anquises (Giulia Semenzato). One of the most beloved voice actors in Spain, the exquisite Javier Dotú, is responsible for the narration linking the musical numbers (an English translation of the entire work accompanies the original text), and the excellent essay included in the booklet is signed by the director of the SCB, Thomas Drescher.","brand":"Los Elementos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57584131015000,"sku":null,"price":23477742.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/los-elementos_vendado-es-amor-no-es-ciego_2020_disco-virgin-music-group","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
