{"product_id":"le-sahel_la-legende-de-dakar_2015","title":"La légende de Dakar","description":"Dakar, late 1960s. Salsa set Senegal and Africa as a whole ablaze. Radio Sénégal had a Latin ear. Afro-Cuban rhythms were all the rage wherever people danced. A natural craze for music whose origins lie at the heart of the Black continent and which has never stopped influencing Africa’s modern music. Something new and important had begun to simmer in Dakar’s musical cauldron. Created in 1974, Le Sahel de Dakar quickly built a growing reputation with an eclectic repertoire based on rock, soul, rhythm and blues, international hits, American and French, Congolese rumba, but above all Afro-Cuban rhythms in which the musicians excelled. Idrissa still speaks enthusiastically of the incredible nights at Le Sahel, where the band shared the stage with the many Cuban and Latin American musicians passing through, Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, but also James Brown, Manu Dibango, Franco, Tabou Combo, Michael Jackson, Johnny Hallyday and even Claude François! The life of the Sahel de Dakar group would sadly be short-lived. Only one 6-track record would be produced in 1975, featuring “Bamba”, the first mbalax track ever recorded. The years passed. Idrissa Diop finally returned to settle in Senegal. The three men reunited. They were enriched by their respective careers and the memory of the Sahel de Dakar era was still as vivid as ever. The Afro-Cuban fire was still smoldering. Idrissa Diop decided to reform Le Sahel and bring the legend back to life. Le Sahel entered the studio for memorable sessions. They went back to the songs played at the time, all the tracks were part of their 1970s repertoire. The fervor, the energy and the big raw sound that electrified audiences were back. Today’s technology perfectly restores the full, rich and slightly veiled voice of Idrissa Diop. Cheikh Tidiane Tall’s swaying organ and so inventive guitar work are marvelous, endlessly weaving new dancing threads between Senegal and the Caribbean. The brass section led by a feverish Thierno Koité wraps the sharp bursts of salsa riffs in a more African roundness. One cannot resist the timbales and the obsessive clave.","brand":"Le Sahel","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58783333155160,"sku":null,"price":23007968.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700409866425.jpg?v=1791936144","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/le-sahel_la-legende-de-dakar_2015","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
