{"product_id":"le-concert-spirituel_messe-solennelle_2019","title":"Messe Solennelle","description":"Composed in 1824 by a 21-year-old Hector Berlioz and premiered at Saint-Roch in 1825, the Messe solennelle has come down to us after a troubled history. After Berlioz claimed to have destroyed the score, the mass was considered lost until its rediscovery in 1992 in Antwerp. This remarkable piece allows us to appreciate the evolution of Berlioz's style – already revolutionary in his youth – and to understand what the artist owes to his contemporaries, particularly Cherubini, whose monumental Requiem was recorded by Hervé Niquet (Alpha 251)… Written for three soloists (soprano, tenor, and bass), choir, and orchestra, this score consists of 13 movements, several of which will be reused by the composer from Dauphiné later on, such as the \"Scène aux champs\" from Symphonie fantastique, a quotation from the Gratias. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Berlioz's death, Hervé Niquet, fascinated by this work – \"Nothing of the dramaturgy and the writing of the voices is foreign to him. At 20 years old!\" – decided to program it (the concert at the famous Berlioz Festival in La Côte Saint-André was memorable) and to record it at the Royal Chapel of the Palace of Versailles.","brand":"Le Concert Spirituel","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58239983583576,"sku":null,"price":24075380.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3760014195648.jpg?v=1787438515","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/le-concert-spirituel_messe-solennelle_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
