While the first album took shape over several years, this one came together quickly. Most of the songs emerged during a songwriting exercise of one song per day in August, partly inspired by The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. The album was then produced and recorded entirely in-house during a lakeside retreat in Vermont, with a supplementary session in the city this winter. The result is both communal and intimate: an album about grief and a transformed understanding of love in all its forms, with tighter arrangements and sharper writing than its predecessor.
