{"product_id":"kokomo-arnold_milk-cow-blues-vinyl_2018_lad","title":"MILK COW BLUES (vinyl)","description":"A left-handed slide guitarist, James \"Kokomo\" Arnold was one of the great innovators of blues guitar. Influenced by Hawaiian guitarists Frank Ferera and Sol Ho'opi'i, he played his instrument flat on his lap. His influence—especially his use of the bottleneck—would be decisive for many musicians. Originally from the southern suburbs of Atlanta, he received his first guitar lessons from his cousin John Wiggs. James left his native Georgia in 1919 to work in various steel mills in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Gary. He arrived in Chicago in 1929 and started bootlegging alcohol during Prohibition. The following year, he briefly returned south to Memphis for his first two tracks with Victor under the pseudonym Gitfiddle Jim. But he quickly returned to Chicago, where he settled permanently. Thanks to \"Kansas\" Joe Mac Coy, he met Decca producer J. Mayo Williams, who signed him shortly after. In 1938—after several commercial successes—he left the music scene and took a factory job in Chicago. Much later, in 1959, he was found by French researchers Jacques Demêtre and Marcel Chauvard living modestly in a small apartment. But Kokomo had absolutely no desire to resume a career as a bluesman. According to some sources, Kokomo allegedly participated in sessions organized by Victoria Spivey and Willie Dixon, but no trace of this has ever been found. He died of a heart attack in 1968.","brand":"Kokomo Arnold","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310362476888,"sku":null,"price":23837187.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3426300101204_a914db0f-3cb8-4214-8538-8f33a949b903.jpg?v=1760317015","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/kokomo-arnold_milk-cow-blues-vinyl_2018_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
