Her music evokes images of road trips to strange and wonderful places. A visual artist, animator, and filmmaker as well, Kendra repeatedly leverages the metaphor of the feline’s nine lives. In the context of her musical trajectory alone, there are at least three lives. Her discovery of multi-tracking on a karaoke machine as a child, her time playing in bands in Florida, her move to New York and creating her music alone on an 8-track, her first two records on Wax Poetics, her 2016 EP *Babble* and her collaborations with DJ Premier, David Sitek, MF Doom, Czarface, Ghostface Killah, and Dennis Coffey, to name a few. The life of this multi-disciplinary artist contains stories through which we can all relate to the universal themes of love, loss, and overcoming our fears.
