They were famous far beyond the borders of Lübeck - the \"Abendmusiken\" organized by the German Baroque composer Dieterich Buxtehude. These religious concerts took place in St. Mary's Church in Lübeck. By performing vocal and instrumental works, Buxtehude himself attracted a certain Johann Sebastian Bach. We know the story of Bach who, in 1705, made a pilgrimage on foot to Lübeck to take organ lessons from Buxtehude and, moreover, to attend one of the \"Abendmusiken\" held five times a year. With his new album \"Abendmusiken\", the multiple award-winning original sound ensemble Capella de la Torre recalls this golden age of the musical and Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Under the direction of the ensemble's founder, Katharina Bäuml, we hear cantatas, masses and instrumental works by Dieterich Buxtehude, which were probably heard during the \"Abendmusiken\". This atmospheric and sonorous program is complemented by compositions by Buxtehude's predecessor, Franz Tunder, as well as by important 17th-century Lübeck city musicians such as Nikolaus Bleyer and Johann Grabbe. La Capella de la Torre has chosen, among others, Buxtehude's joyful and carefree cantata \"Alles, was ihr tut\" (BuxWV 4), the rarely heard \"Missa brevis\" (BuxWV 114) for five-voice choir and basso continuo, as well as the tenor aria \"Quemadmodum desiderat cervus\". Only about twenty vocal compositions by Franz Tunder have come down to us. It can be assumed that this repertoire was used both during mass and during the \"Abendmusiken\". His seven-voice sinfonia for the motet \"Da pacem, Domine\" is a very special treasure. And the instrumental suite by Nathanael Schnittelbach, who came from Gdansk to Lübeck in 1655 and perpetuated the string culture there through his playing and his own compositions, provides a dance-like momentum.","brand":"Katharina Bauml","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57520724214104,"sku":null,"price":23948450.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/katharina-bauml_abendmusik-evening-music-buxtehude-tunder-grabbe_2025_son","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
