Now tightened around a quartet following the departure of their keyboardist (Auriculaire), the group definitively drives the point home with this sixth opus - Allaxis - the fruit of live experience and the digested influences of the musicians. Determined to break free from an overly reductive reggae dub straitjacket, the group offers an unbridled vision of its music. An ambivalence synthesized into a much rougher essence: this time the shadow has clearly taken over the light. Allaxis, the eponymous title that opens the album, clearly sets the foundations: an oppressive atmosphere against a backdrop of roaring bass. A palpable tension that will be found as a common thread throughout the album. Proof of this is the track Chord Note, an incandescent fury ready to implode at any moment, a true four-headed hydra fed by heavy basses, menacing textures, and apocalyptic synthetic assaults. Find us, Pack Ice, No More Dread in turn let skanks and other delays escape here and there from an omnipresent leaden blanket, bringing a very particular substance to the project, between digital dub and dubstep. Present on 3 of the 9 tracks, Learoy Green brings a different breath to the album. Sometimes languid and chanted (Can I make a wish), sometimes sung, his interventions clearly contrast with the rest of the album (Run and go hide).
