And we did it: eight songs. Each morning, we quickly listened to the previous day's track and moved on. In reality, we weren't starting from scratch: Gilb had a collection of loops around which to develop ideas. We worked like a beatmaker and a rapper – except instead of rapping, I sang, played instruments, then we structured them until we had complete songs with a beginning and an end. All in a super relaxed atmosphere. Of course, we worked hard until everything was perfect, we're not slackers, but we didn't hesitate to go out for drinks to enjoy the bright terraces. And I think the sunshine we basked in during our breaks shines through in the grooves of the record. I'm proud of it because a recording that bears the trace of the environment in which it was created is truly spontaneous. When it came to mixing, I:Cube joined the party. Again, we limited ourselves to 8 days to maintain the same energy. Cube's sound genius really elevated the level. We experimented everywhere, extended several tracks to make room for all his ideas. This album is truly the work of 3 men, not 2. The second phase was as joyful and relaxed as the first. Yet, we were coming out of a sad period: like all of you, we endured confinement, the absence of concerts and DJ sets that are usually our life... and in a few weeks, Gilbert and I both lost our fathers, and just after, Nicolas Ker followed them to the grave. These events are mentioned in the lyrics of the songs – I wouldn't have talked about them for a solo album, I allowed myself to because we experienced it collectively. But it's not a sad album. For the three of us, this time was a beautiful bath of sunshine and creativity after a very long winter.
