Composed for two violas (both played by James Sanders), a harmonium (Lisa), and electronic instruments (Joshua), it was designed to be looped during gallery hours from April 1 to August 20, 2023. And so it was. When playing with Natural Information Society, Joshua's writing leans towards the group's specific musical form. Here, he composed in constant dialogue with the exhibition. A key interpretation of the exhibition is expressed by Josh in the transmission of information between the two violas intertwining from opposite points on the soundstage. In her exhibition, \"Pulse Meridian Foliation,\" Lisa Alvarado immerses herself in the process of foliation, where extreme environmental pressures on rocks cause new crystallization and altered minerality. For Alvarado, this is a matrix allowing her to apprehend time and changes, especially political ones. It is a way to apprehend her family's intergenerational memory regarding the \"Mexican Repatriation,\" a 1930s US policy that forced millions of people, including many US citizens, to flee to Mexico.
