The show we presented at our first gig in Istanbul was very different from the one we played in New York upon our return. Parker, Jake, Eric, and I love playing together. Over time, we've developed a trust and dedication to creating music in the moment and rolling with it as it finds new expression. After catching up on some sleep from the jet lag, we reconvened at Robin Macmillan's Faraway Jazz Studios. We were fortunate to be Robin's last session due to the ever-changing moods of Brooklyn landlords. We recorded our 17-song set without a break. Even though our fans weren't there to hear it in real time, we played as if it were our last show of the year, which it was. When the lockdown happened in March 2020, I rode my bike every day to Trout Recording to meet with engineer Adam Sachs to mix the record. Working with these tracks, which were so full of life, helped us through that time.
