{"product_id":"jimi-hendrix_both-sides-of-the-sky_2018_son_1","title":"Both sides of the sky","description":"Experience Hendrix and Legacy Recordings are honored to present \"Both Sides of the Sky,\" the new album by Jimi Hendrix, consisting of thirteen studio recordings made between 1968 and 1970, including ten previously unreleased tracks. \"Both Sides of the Sky\" is the third volume of a trilogy of works intended to showcase the best unreleased studio recordings of the artist. The trilogy, initiated by the album \"Valleys of Neptune\" (2010), was followed by the release of \"People, Hell and Angels\" (2013). \"Both Sides of the Sky\" brilliantly concludes this restoration work of Jimi Hendrix's catalog. Recorded between January 1968 and February 1970, these new tracks highlight Jimi Hendrix's mastery of studio production, his taste for musical experimentation, and his insatiable desire to push the boundaries of the blues. A large number of the album's tracks were recorded by the trio that would later be known as Band of Gypsys: Jimi on guitar and vocals, Billy Cox on bass, and Buddy Miles on drums. For their very first recording session on April 22, 1969, Jimi Hendrix turned to their common musical roots: the delta blues. Their more energetic reinterpretation of \"Mannish Boy\" (Muddy Waters), previously unreleased, opens the album and sets the tempo for what follows. \"Both Sides of the Sky\" stands out from the two previous albums by the presence of prestigious features. Stephen Stills, met at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, appears on the tracks \"$20 fine\" and \"Woodstock,\" composed by Joni Mitchell. Guitarist Johnny Winter appears alongside Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, and Dallas Taylor (Crosby, Stills, Nash \u0026 Young) on the track \"Things I Used to Do.\" Finally, Jimi Hendrix reunites with his former accomplice Lonnie Youngblood on the famous \"Georgia Blues,\" who was then a member of the famous Curtis Knight \u0026 The Squires. \"Both Sides of the Sky\" was produced by Janie Hendrix, John McDermott, and Eddie Kramer, who also produced the two previous albums of the trilogy and are guardians of the integrity and continuity of the legacy left by Jimi Hendrix since 1996.","brand":"Jimi Hendrix","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57670658556248,"sku":null,"price":23524245.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/jimi-hendrix_both-sides-of-the-sky_2018_son_1","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
