Hill recalls: \"Jeremiah arrived before the sound engineer. We talked for barely five minutes before he started programming a sound and a sequence on the Gleeman Pentaphonic. By the time the engineer arrived, Jeremiah had already composed several parts around the Gleeman, without any synchronization, but with remarkable fluidity and spontaneity. They connected the Tascam 388 to the patch bay and started recording. Jeremiah improvised, and there it was. The first track composed and recorded in less than an hour. It was natural, playful, and spontaneous. And the rest of the session went the same way: a constant effervescence. It was the most fun non-hip-hop session I’ve ever participated in.\" The resulting album, \"In Electric Time,\" was recorded in just two days, then finalized over the next two days. It was entirely recorded analog by sound engineer Ben Lumsdaine, who also contributes to a few tracks. Cooper Crain (of Bitchin Bajas) also makes an appearance; but ultimately, this collection is an intuitive expression of organic electronic music, conceptualized and created in context by Chiu alone. With a lifetime dedicated to sound synthesis, he composes a vibrant and strikingly fresh sequence, made up of cinematic sketches and emerging themes. In a way, In Electric Time reflects the spontaneity of Raymond Scott's electronic studio recordings—with sharp transitions and ambient noises—and, in another way, it evokes the instant magic of Harmonia.
