{"product_id":"ishkero_shama-vinyl_2023_lad","title":"SHAMA (vinyl)","description":"We're hearing more and more about the New Jazz Scene. Why is \"jazz\" cool again? How is it bringing back a younger, more curious audience? All over the place, clubs and festivals are embracing a musical movement that unfiltered absorbs the surrounding musical trends and could be the most beautiful connection between the promise of a party and the unique feeling of seeing artists perform and improvise music together, in constant interaction with the present moment. But \"the New Jazz Scene,\" while continually regenerating over generations and geography, is not so new; it has existed for over 50 years. And it is within this long, rich, and constantly innovative, philosophically indefatigable movement that Ishkero carves its niche. Because if the band members are under thirty and are now releasing their first album SHAMA, we are indeed talking about a group of veterans. The 5 members of the band first met around the age of 19. Almost 10 years later, the lineup is exactly the same, and the jokes in rehearsal remain fresh. And from the very beginning, each one had the hunger to thoroughly explore the techniques and means of expression of their own instrument. Together, the need to play music as open as the shelves of their respective record collections, ranging from great legends to explorers of crossover jazz, epic rock, and world music. And together, the obvious urgency to break free from these influences and offer the energy of the present moment, their own. An expansive, pressing, sunny, and joyful energy, the kind that makes you want to enjoy it together. Since its creation, ISHKERO has been infusing itself at its own tempo into all the places that create today's vibe. They hang out in Krispy Records studios, frequent the capital's clubs and jams, are at home at La Petite Halle in Paris, and have been part of the furniture at La Gare\/Le Gore, one of the epicenters of the new generation, since its inception. The musicians tour with Erik Truffaz, Guillaume Perret, and collaborate in all directions. The band released an EP on the precious Chuwanaga label, featured on compilations showcasing all the vitality of the scene, Past \u0026 Future by Jazz à Vienne and Heavenly Sweetness, and Groove Dingueries by BMM Records. Finally, they won the national Jazz à Vienne springboard competition and the 2023 Jazz Migrations selection. More than the possibility of yet another 'new spearhead of the new French jazz scene,' it is this entire long process that emerges with the discovery of SHAMA. The music is collectively carried, identities fade except for a unique moment of bravura determined by each musician, like a series of portraits that punctuate the album. It is the accomplished album of a group of friends who have matured together for a decade in constant excitement. The compositions are refined, chiseled, and stylish. However, they all serve as a canvas for an undeniable desire to demonstrate their common ability to blow people away. The members of Ishkero have found the recipe that makes them want to push the boundaries always together and always further. All these years, and they give the impression that this is just the beginning.
