We don’t know how to say goodbye, and that’s for the best. I placed them in that cradle that my dad had forged for me and watched them grow, arrange themselves in the disorder of love, and ignite. So this is a tribute to my father, the late Dominique Imbert, emissary of fire. But this album is also that of the musicians who recorded it. The quartet that has been accompanying me for 7 years now: Brunoï Zarn, brother of Boucan on folk guitar, Mathieu Werchowski on violin, Laurent Paris on percussion, and then Lucie Delmas on marimba, who joined this band of rebels like a letter in the mail, Emmanuelle Ader and Esther Marlot on backing vocals. Finally, our special guest René Lacaille on accordion, who tells us it’s “one of the most beautiful albums” he has participated in! When we know that we celebrated together, at the Théâtre Molière in Sète in front of 900 people, his 70 years of music last year, it gives us an idea of the importance of the compliment. Lastly, the studio La Buissonne and Gérard de Haro at the controls. A studio that has fascinated me since I was old enough to appreciate its heroes, from Bruno Chevillon to Carla Bley or Charlie Haden. A palace of sound. Quite focused on jazz as you can see.
