At 33 years old and originally a percussionist, he trained in conducting at the famous Sibelius Academy. A last-minute replacement as the head of the Finnish Radio Orchestra at the age of 23 accelerated his career. He is also the principal guest conductor of the Philharmonia Orchestra… Coming from the great tradition of Finnish conductors, Santtu-Matias Rouvali is characterized by a particularly physical and organic interpretation of music: \"The music flows in him\/from him,\" writes the Sunday Times. When Bachtrack asks him how he shapes the sound of the orchestra, he replies: \"I sing the music, I move my hands as I wish (...) a conductor must be able to show the tempo with their body (...) I was a percussionist, so my feet and hands can move differently (...) I think having been a percussionist gives me an intrinsic sense of rhythm in music, which is crucial for interpreting Sibelius.\" With the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (GSO), he joins a prestigious ensemble with an impressive discography and places himself in the lineage of illustrious music directors, including of course Neeme Järvi, who was principal conductor from 1982 to 2004, as well as Gustavo Dudamel – who made his first major recordings with the GSO – Christoph Eschenbach, Kent Nagano…","brand":"Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58006989668696,"sku":null,"price":23175144.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3760014194405.jpg?v=1787179308","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/gothenburg-symphony-orchestra_symphonie-numero-1-en-mi-mineur-opus-39-en-saga-opus-9_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
