It all starts with \"Sur la route\" recorded in 1993 up to the unreleased track that will accompany this best of in 2011. 18 years, 18 songs, it's not exhausting as a rhythm, certainly, but constant and regular. And then, it makes a round number, I like that. I added two or three little-known things, like the demo of \"Marie,\" different from Johnny's unbeatable version. Here is my path, a somewhat solitary journey. Neither on the great highway of variety, nor on the tortuous paths of the ultra-trendy. My visceral need for aesthetics would have made me uncomfortable on the first and the fearful snobbery of the second has always annoyed me.
