It was also the perfect tool to recreate an orchestra as well, if not better, than with a piano. Thus, many works traveled back and forth between the piano keyboard and the organ, and many others were originally conceived for choir or orchestra. Playing on a beautifully crafted Tamburini (Perugia), the Italian organist Adriano Falcioni certainly knows his Liszt well, having performed it in concert and privately. He approaches it with calmness and tranquility, even a certain placidity, excelling in the tortuous polyphony of the large forms (no brilliance in the two Fantasies and Prelude and Fugues or \"Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen\"), the transcriptions of Nicolai, Wagner, and Verdi, as well as in the more modest pages (the Ordinary of the Liturgy, commissioned works, and pieces after Mozart, Bach, and Chopin (Two Preludes) of appreciable clarity. As one traverses this rich path of discoveries (The triptych after Dante, the Mass, and the Requiem), one ultimately can no longer distinguish what differentiates the seminal piano works from their organ counterparts, as the writing is so fluid, idiomatic, and foundational. The same goes for the \"orchestral\" pages, which are true symphonic poems (CD3) where breadth never equates to overload. The Tamburini and the intelligence of the registration play a significant role in this. Even if one remains sentimentally loyal to the grand and sulpician Liszt of the late Pierre Labric (unmatched on the grand organs of Saint Ouen - Solstice) or even to Jean Guillou (on a Neapolitan organ), this complete set has the merit of including, like that of the more incisive Oliver Vernet (Ligia Digital), very rarely recorded works. High-flying Liszt that forms a musical monument dedicated to the organ.
