Frankie Laine (for that is who he is) had a musical career spanning nearly 75 years, but never had a particular nickname for his country songs, which surprised us at AVID, because younger fans mostly remember him as the performer of theme songs for films and country television series. We think notably of « Rawhide », « High Noon » (his version, though not used for the film, was more successful), « Gunfight at the O.K. Corral », « 3:10 to Yuma » and even Mel Brooks' classic, « Blazing Saddles ». In reality, and this is quite incredible, Frankie's career took a long time to take off, perhaps because he was difficult to categorize as a singer. In the 30s and 40s, he tried his hand at everything: light entertainment, variety shows, dance teacher, covers of popular hits, jazz, crooning, folk, blues, gospel and even rock 'n' roll. The list is long; he seems to have tried it all. Along the way, he met many future stars who would influence his career, notably Nat King Cole, Hoagy Carmichael and Perry Como, whom he replaced as lead singer in Freddy Carlone's orchestra. His musical influences ranged from Caruso to Bessie Smith, via Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong. At the end of the 40s, Frankie finally found success with several easy-listening songs, including the classic « That's My Desire », which paved the way for white-eyed crooners... Frankie was launched, but the road was not yet that of country. So why do so many of us, of a certain age, associate him only with country music? In the 1950s, Frankie began a new chapter in his career, that of westerns on television and in film. Here we present the four main country albums that marked Frankie Laine's long and brilliant career. You will find all his greatest country hits, and many more besides. Here he is on the covers of these four albums, looking like a true Wild West hero.And as you will see, they are all absolutely fantastic!","brand":"Frankie Laine","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57489930715480,"sku":null,"price":23872853.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/frankie-laine_four-classic-albums-plus-frankie-laine_2026_uvm","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
