{"product_id":"franco-ambrosetti_sweet-caress-vinyl_2024_lad","title":"SWEET CARESS (vinyl)","description":"Ballads have a way of comforting us. When imbued with real emotional power, they have the ability to uplift and transport. We lose ourselves in romance or reverie. This second orchestral collaboration between iconic Swiss trumpeter Franco Ambrosetti and two-time Grammy-winning arranger Alan Broadbent takes us there. The album title perfectly describes Franco's approach to every golden note he plays on the flugelhorn. Supported by an all-star band comprised of pianist Broadbent, guitarist John Scofield, bassist Scott Colley and drummer Peter Erskine, along with a 29-piece orchestra arranged and conducted by Broadbent, Ambrosetti tugs at the heartstrings on a program featuring four original compositions and four well-chosen covers. “This is actually the third album I’ve done with strings,” Ambrosetti offered. “The first was done with Don Sebesky back in the late ‘70s. Over the years, I decided I definitely wanted to do another album with strings, because the older you get, the more you have to focus on ballads. And today, at 82, it is such a great satisfaction to play ballads and interpret tunes like these.” As the arranger of ‘Sweet Caress,’ Broadbent proves to be a perfect partner, continuing his role as arranger and conductor on Ambrosetti’s previous orchestral project, 2022’s Nora. A native of New Zealand, he wrote for Woody Herman’s bands in the ‘70s and Charlie Haden’s Quartet West in the ‘80s. He apprenticed with Nelson Riddle before participating as an arranger and conductor on orchestral recordings for Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Shirley Horn, Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, Mel Torme, and Paul McCartney. “One thing I love about music,” Broadbent offered, “is that through notes you can move people, and be moved. Whether it’s jazz, classical, popular music, or classic songs, if it has that human quality, that’s what I look for.” After their initial meeting on Nora, Broadbent described his collaboration with Franco as “two musical souls meeting up. We all know, within a few bars of playing together, whether we feel a connection. You resonate together like tuning forks, and that’s where music comes from. I’m fortunate that Franco heard something in me that he connected with.” He continued, “I’m a passionate piano player and I love translating that feeling into an orchestra, which, in my opinion, is the most beautiful thing there is on the planet. It’s a profound experience.” These lush tracks fit perfectly with a late-night quiet time with a sip of your favorite libation (my preference is bourbon, neat, or a dark-hued cabernet). And while you’re at it, get comfortable, kick your feet up on the nearest ottoman, dim the lights and let yourself get lost in the reverie of ‘Sweet Caress.’ — Bill Milkowski","brand":"Franco Ambrosetti","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310363492696,"sku":null,"price":23907942.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0767522985313_fb6be542-cc01-4993-b187-decd6a4bdef5.jpg?v=1760316982","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/franco-ambrosetti_sweet-caress-vinyl_2024_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
