{"product_id":"earl-bostic_early-earl_2026_disco-bertus-france","title":"Early Earl","description":"Considered by his peers to be a legendary saxophonist, Earl Bostic and his innovative and captivating alto playing were a cornerstone of instrumental rhythm and blues from the early post-war years until his untimely death in 1965 from a heart attack, when he was only in his fifties. For most of this period, he was the flagship artist on the King label, for which he sold impressive quantities of 78s, 45s, and LPs during his sixteen-year collaboration. Before King, Earl had recorded a significant number of tracks for Gotham Records in Philadelphia, and it was the local success of his records on Gotham that prompted King to buy out his contract and most of his original recordings. Although many compilations of Earl's groundbreaking recordings have been released over the years, the new compilation \"Early Earl\" from Jasmine is, to our knowledge, the first to gather as many Gotham tracks as possible on a single CD, with the exception of two, due to lack of space. These excellent tracks reveal a decidedly rhythm and blues side of Earl and his band, some even featuring Earl on vocals and saxophone (an instrument he used less and less as the 1950s progressed). The album is full of gems that will delight all small-group R\u0026amp;B enthusiasts, with a touch of Louis Jordan, Earl's fellow alto saxophonist. And for those who want more, there are, as they say, plenty more to come!","brand":"Earl Bostic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57482296754520,"sku":null,"price":23872932.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/earl-bostic_early-earl_2026_disco-bertus-france","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
