{"product_id":"donna-mcghee_make-it-last-forever_2019_mdl","title":"Make It Last Forever","description":"THE RE-ISSUE OF A 1978 ULTRA-RARE DISCO CLASSICPRODUCED BYPATRICK ADAMS \u0026 GREG CARMICHAELMake It Last Forever, released in 1978, is a cult record. Not only for the singer's talent but also for that of the legendary production duo Greg Carmichael and Patrick Adams. Comprising five tracks written by the two collaborators, the album is the prototype of a late 70s underground disco album, served by Donna's superb voice. The original album is high on collectors' \"want-lists,\" and this is the first time in decades it has been available in its original form with remastered audio. Donna McGhee is one of the key singers of the 70s New York disco scene. Hailing from Brooklyn, she began her career singing from a young age in her grandmother's gospel choir. Bassist Johnny Flippin spotted her and invited her to join his funk band, the Fatback Band led by drummer Bill Curtis. Following a decisive meeting with producer Greg Carmichael, Donna McGhee began working with the prolific producer and his partner Patrick Adams. Donna can be heard on classic albums by Bumblebee Unlimited, The Universal Robot Band, and on Phreek's eponymous album. In 1978, after creating his own label, Red Greg Records, Carmichael, with the help of Patrick Adams, decided to produce an album for McGhee. The two producers played most of the instruments on the album and produced five tracks. The result, Make It Last Forever, is a classic: fluid disco arrangements with a touch of synths over an irresistible groove magnified by Donna McGhee's superbly sexy voice. It features \"I'm A Love Bug,\" a remake of Bumblebee Unlimited's 1976 track \"Love Bug,\" and \"Make It Last Forever,\" covered by Inner Life a few years later. \"Do As I Do\" and \"Mr. Blindman\" are of the same caliber, and \"It Ain't No Big Thing\" is a cover of a 1976 single by the group Personal Touch. The track is one of the album's highlights and has become a true disco standard. Make It Last Forever didn't have a huge impact upon its release in 1978, hence its rarity. Since becoming one of the most sought-after disco records, the album proves that the association of Donna McGhee - Greg Carmichael - Patrick Adams was a combination of genius. The album has since entered the pantheon of must-have albums, which Wewantsounds is now delighted to re-issue in its original form.","brand":"Donna McGhee","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55312132178264,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700604723752.jpg?v=1760405756","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/donna-mcghee_make-it-last-forever_2019_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
