After releasing two albums in 2018, “Toute latitude” and “La fragilité”, and touring for a year, I had imposed on myself a supposed long period of self-sufficiency to recharge my creative batteries. Along the way, due to the virus, a generalized self-sufficiency was decreed in March 2020. Self-sufficiency upon self-sufficiency, it was starting to be a lot… \u003cbr\u003eAs a result, I came out of the woods, well beyond the kilometer that was then regulated, via digital channels, with a cover of a band dear to my heart, “L’éclaircie” by Marc Seberg, a song whose message urging patience seemed timely. This cover having been well received, I followed up with an EP, “Le silence ou tout comme”, four electronic tracks composed and recorded live, and sung with a restrained voice. The machine was set in motion, and then, how to stop it? \u003cbr\u003eThe desire for a slightly less confined song (not a coincidence, we had meanwhile come out of our homes…), and for more melodic songs driven by guitars returned to me; I recorded and mixed a new series of tracks, under the same domestic conditions as the cover and the 4 tracks, and with lyrics that, like for the EP and contrary to my old habits, were written in the flow of the music. I felt I was holding a sort of musical logbook of the period, and of how I perceived it, without the songs necessarily referencing it systematically. \u003cbr\u003eAll of this forming a whole, driven by the same method (improvising songs on simple melodic structures) and imbued with the uncertainties of the time. Hence this 10 tracks, “Vie étrange”, whose desire to keep a tangible trace called for a physical release, even if in limited edition. Not a “new album”, with the logistical upheaval that would imply.
