{"product_id":"deary_birding_2026_bel","title":"Birding","description":"deary is a British dream pop\/shoegaze band that blends ethereal soundscapes with an indie pop sensibility. deary has released two EPs and built a growing following through their immersive live shows. deary's sound resonates with fans of bands such as Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Alvvays, and Slowdive, sometimes adding noisy shoegaze touches to their productions, not unlike My Bloody Valentine's saturated flights of fancy. The London duo, now a trio, has just signed with the Bella Union label and is releasing their debut album, Birding.\n\nBirds are captivating and fascinating creatures. Free from earthly concepts, they soar through the skies, only briefly interacting with those of us who observe them from below. It's almost as if they inhabit a parallel world, where the turbulence of daily life on Earth is completely absent. When deary, the London dream-pop trio comprising Ben Easton, Dottie Cockram, and Harry Catchpole, titled their debut album Birding, it was not only to pay homage to our feathered friends but also to refer to the sense of expansion, wonder, and abandon their music evokes. They chose this title to draw attention to the direct impact humans have on the world around them, be it nature or themselves. Across 11 tracks ranging from ocean-deep shoegaze riffs to light and ethereal touches of indie, Birding is the sound of a band that has definitely found its way.\n\n\"I became really passionate about reading about birds and all these historical and poetic stories about them,\" explains singer and guitarist Dottie. \"You find these beautiful images of birds representing hope, but they're also animals. Some eat their own young. Others, like vultures and crows, are a sign of death for some people. They represent all these different elements, which I think sum up the album well.\"\n\n\"The album is about human consequences,\" explains Ben, the band's guitarist. \"The consequences on each other, on our own minds, on mental health, on nature... An idea that seemed quite tangible to us is that humans have the greatest impact on innocent, vulnerable, and sensitive beings, like birds, for example. This goes hand in hand with the vulnerability of our inner selves, or the child within us, which corresponds to the album cover: a child trying to fly. It's very ethereal, but it also has a lot of sad nuances.\"\n\ndeary (all lowercase, please) came into being during the COVID lockdown, when Ben left the South East London scene he was part of and challenged himself to write more emotional music.","brand":"deary","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":56521705193816,"sku":null,"price":24004059.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700187692285.jpg?v=1768329269","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/deary_birding_2026_bel","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
