On \"Mother People\", Kriegel reworks a Frank Zappa composition into an unrestrained masterpiece. Kriegel grabs the sitar on \"Mathar\" as jazz-rock vies with the East, and the poignant ballad waltz \"Vian-De\" highlights the vibes. \"Teaming Up\" lifts off at breakneck speed with some open-ended detours along the way. \"Walking Down the Highway\" celebrates the group’s dilapidated red Citroen, as they easily maneuver through the 13\/4 signature. The first of six albums Pike recorded for MPS, it exquisitely chronicles the beginnings of a band that achieved popularity while maintaining its unique and adventurous musical vision.MPS released the re-issue of this album on CD (Digipak) and 180gr Vinyl. The original master tape was digitized for the audio in the usual MPS quality and refreshed for the CDs and LPs with a subtle remastering.
