{"product_id":"chris-gantry_nashlantis_2019_mdl","title":"Nashlantis","description":"The annals of Nashville, the immortal music city of the twentieth century, are full of legends, as well as ephemeral glories, lesser-known stories, and obscure wonders: singers, writers, and musicians who had their fifteen minutes of fame, who were on the verge of becoming stars or were simply in the same room as the men and women whose names we know. Self-proclaimed outlaw Chris Gantry, in fact, doesn't fit into any of these categories. More than 50 years after writing his first and biggest hit, he is still writing and singing, having lived to tell the tale of his winding but ultimately joyful path, a life well-lived as the song \"Life Well Lived\" says. Now in his 70s, Gantry remains an accomplished performer and an inveterate writer, appearing in concert as a powerful and genial man, happy with the experiences he has lived, able to transcend them and exuberant when he sings about them. Nashlantis is Gantry's ninth album to be released since he moved to Nashville in the early 1960s. There, he met like-minded people: Shel Silverstein, Kris Kristofferson, Eddie Rabbitt, Vince Matthews, and Mickey Newbury - people who worked day and night to break through, write, and sing in the chaos of their youth. It was an intoxicating environment - everyone had their own vision, and Chris's cosmic agitations set him apart from the others. Recorded in Nashville with legendary engineer Rob Galbraith, the new album Nashlantis features 11 mesmerizing performances by Gantry, re-touched in Austin by Jerry David DeCicca and Stuart Sikes. Don Cento, Ryan Jewell, and Marina Peterson layered electric guitar, mandolin, synthesizer, percussion, and cello into the body of the songs, and vocalists Edith Frost and Bill Callahan also made exceptional contributions. Nashlantis is inevitably a reflection on Gantry's long and winding journey in this world, but the vitality of the writing prevents the music from becoming a mere elegy or even a denouement. Chris's cunning, old-fashioned way of treating a melody and his gentle melodism give him the space to tell his stories with ease; lovers, losers, and weirdos are depicted with warmth and empathy, an authentic love of the human spirit and the singing guts of a man who has known tens of thousands of musical nights. Nashlantis is a testament to Chris Gantry's career and talent, to the individualism that set him apart from his early days, and to his open-mindedness. DeCicca's production opens a unique new chapter in the Chris Gantry catalog, a powerful new entry.","brand":"Chris Gantry","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55312162914648,"sku":null,"price":23928668.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0781484072317.jpg?v=1760407758","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/chris-gantry_nashlantis_2019_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
