It's a pinnacle of dark and feverish rock, always elegant, that has haunted a generation of music lovers for over two decades. The story continues, long live Chokebore!Chokebore hails from Honolulu, Hawaii. The story begins in the early 90s when the band, freshly arrived in California, signed with Amphetamine Reptile Records (Melvins, Helmet, Unsane), a legendary American label that would release their first albums, 'Motionless' (1993), 'Anything Near Water' (1995), 'A Taste For Bitters' (1996). Three masterpieces of intense rock, propelled by a powerful rhythm section and sharp guitars. The haunting melodies and Troy Von Balthazar's moving vocals made them a truly unique, unclassifiable band. Chokebore quickly toured with many US rock heavyweights like Guzzard, Today Is The Day, Butthole Surfers, Samiam, Girls Against Boys, and garnered a solid fanbase, mesmerized by the unique sound and explosive live performances of Troy and his band. The series of concerts with Nirvana in 1993 and 1994 allowed the band to definitively establish its reputation within the American rock scene.It was in the late 2000s, in Berlin, that Jonathan Kroll, James Kroll, and Troy Von Balthazar reconnected. Simple acoustic guitars and devotion to Chokebore led to their musical reunion. Having dedicated so much of their lives to this band made the experience natural. Their instruments wouldn't remain unplugged for long, as the combo – joined since 1995 by drummer Christian Omar Madrigal Izzo – made its big return to the stage in 2010, an intense and moving moment long awaited by all Chokebore fans. In late 2011, nearly 10 years after their last studio album, Chokebore released 'Falls Best' (on Vicious Circle Records), a striking new EP. Troy Von Balthazar, fragile and tempestuous, continued to sing with his guts. An impressive tour (especially in France) followed and confirmed the undiminished vitality of the four Americans. In 2013, Chokebore once again geared up to celebrate the twentieth year of their valiant journey. On this occasion, the band's first two albums, 'Motionless' and 'Anything Near Water,' were reissued on vinyl. \"A band adored by Kurt Cobain for its depressive and poignant hardcore, the Hawaiian quartet is an underground legend of the 90s.\" ---TÉLÉRAMA ---. \"A legendary band, a cult band.\" --- NEW NOISE ---. \"Heavy, ponderous, and intoxicating.\" --- ROLLING STONE Magazine ---.","brand":"Chokebore","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310235402584,"sku":null,"price":23933929.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3526186615915_3d53e97e-d00b-437c-af5b-a064929aeac2.jpg?v=1760318704","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/chokebore_a-taste-for-bitters-vinyle_2020_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
